James F. Montgomery (4 November - 30 April ) was an Scottish poet, editor, and hymnist. Montgomery, son of a pastor and missionary of the Moravian Brethren, was born at Irvine, Ayrshire, and educated at the Moravian School at Fulneck, near Leeds. After various changes of occupation and abode, he settled in Sheffield in as clerk to a newspaper. In he had become editor of the.
